Class Schedule
Fall 2018

$50 deposit required to register.Deposits are refundable for store credit up to a week before the class starts and are non-refundable a week before the start of class. Please wear closed-toe shoes.

There is a minimum of three students per class; classes may be cancelled for insufficient enrollment.

Additionally, note that many of our classes require students to stand for long periods of time.  Please take this into consideration when registering for a class.  We will do our best to make accommodations, but require prior notification.  Thank you.

Holiday Project Workshops

Beginning November 6, election day, Blue Heron Glass will be offering Open Studio every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11–5. Materials for various projects will be available and priced accordingly. Be sure to call ahead to reserve space. We are keeping Thursday, Friday and Saturday during the Holiday Season clear for larger groups of family and friends, so if 6–14 of you want to come together and play with glass, be sure and give us a call.


Holiday Ornaments (make 2) $30
Small Plates ( 5 x 5 ) $30
Suncatchers ( 5 x 7 ) $50
Nite Light (includes hardware) $30
Pendants ( 10 x 10 shelf ) $ 50

All of these projects involve fusing, so you will not be able to take the finished piece home that day. Feel free to mix and match.

Beginning Stained Glass ($150)

*6-8pm, Wednesday,  October 3, 10, 17

A great way to experience stained glass! Construct a copper foil panel with patterns and glass supplied. Over the course of three weeks, you will cut glass from a pattern and solder the finished product. All patterns, materials and use of tools are included. Class meets two hours each week for three weeks. Tuition of $150 includes all materials.


Beginning Fusing and Slumping ($200)

*6-8pm, Tuesday,  October 9, 16,23

This fun and informative class provides a general overview of fusing techniques, pitfalls, and procedures. Students will create an 8-inch square dish and a 12-inch round bowl in this three-week class.  Tuition of $200 includes all materials, a technical manual, and kiln time.



Beginning Lead ($225)*

Build a 18 x 12 inch panel with the lead came method of construction to the pattern supplied. Tuition of $225 includes a $35 glass allowance. All other materials and use of necessary tools are included.  Class meets two hours each week for three weeks. This project may require extra time to complete, depending on the student’s pace and experience. Work can be done at home or studio time can be purchased at $15/hour to work in the shop.
*Beginning Stained Glass or previous stained glass experience are required for this course.


Fused Panel With Borders ($150)

Combine two fun techniques is this simple and stunning project. Students will create a 5 x 7 inch fused center panel which will be surrounded by a double border using the copper foil method. All materials are included in the tuition of $150. Prior glass experience is not required. Class meets 3 consecutive weeks for two hours each week.




Copper Foil II: Spiderwebs ($150)

*6 8 pm, Thursday,  October 11, 18, 25

Get ready for Halloween with this creepy-crawly project. This triangular panel fits in any corner of your home and is a great project for those who have taken the beginning class and are ready for a second project. Tuition of $150 includes all materials. This is NOT a beginning stained glass class, previous experience in glass cutting and copper foil construction is recommended.


Autumn Pumpkin   ($75)

* 12 – 3 Saturday, October 13
*12 – 3 Saturday, October 27

Create a wonderful window ornament featuring a 9 inch pumpkin covered with lots of wire swirls festooned with decorative beads. Some soldering experience would be helpful, but is not required. Come ready to play. Tuition of $75 includes all materials.


Day of the Dead Fused Glass Plate  ($100)

*6 – 8  Friday, October 19
*4 – 6  Wednesday, October 24

Celebrate Halloween/All Saints Day/Day of the Dead with this fun 9 inch fused glass plate, decorated in the style of those famous little sugar skulls. We will provide a black blank with the center skull shaped pre-fused, ready for decorating so pre- registration is a must. Class fee of $100 includes all accessory glass and firing.


Introduction to Mosaics ($150)

*1-3pm, Friday October 19, 26

Learn the techniques for making a glass-on-glass mosaic in this two week class. Mosaics are a great way to use leftover glass from stained glass projects, found objects from your yard or home, or anything else that can be glued down. Each student will make a 10-inch square mosaic. There will be some patterns available, but feel free to bring your own designs, patterns, or special non-glass inclusions. Tuition of $150 includes all materials and a pair of glass mosaic nippers. This project may require extra time to complete, depending on the student’s pace. Work can be done at home or studio time can be purchased to work in the shop.


Scalloped  Bowl  ($100)

*1 – 3 Saturday, October 20

In this workshop  create a beautiful 9 inch bowl using pre-cut elements in this fun-filled two hour workshop. All materials and kiln-work are included in the tuition of $100. Workshop is limited to eight participants, so sign up early.


Studio Time is offered by appointment only.

Cost is $15 per hour, which includes use of shop space and tools. Please buy or bring your own glass and supplies. Studio space is not always available and is NOT a substitution for class instruction.
